Welcome — You're Booked

You're booked. Now you get to actually look forward to it.

Everything you need to feel ready for your family session is right here. You don't have to read it all at once. Bookmark this page and come back as questions come up or as your session gets closer.

A few things to know upfront. This guide is built to take things off your plate, not add to them. You don't have to memorize anything. You don't have to coach your kids ahead of time. You don't have to plan for everyone to be on their best behavior. The session is designed around real families with real kids, which means whatever your version of normal looks like is the version we're working with.

If a question comes up that isn't answered here, just reply to your booking email anytime. No question is too small.

Prep Guides

Read what you need, skip what you don't. Come back as often as you need to.

These guides cover the practical stuff: what to expect during the session, what to wear, and how to set your kids up for a good experience without overthinking it. They're built to be scanned, not studied. Read what feels useful and skip what doesn't. Nothing here is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is the question I get most, and the answer is genuinely: it's fine. Kids melt down. Toddlers refuse to look at the camera. Babies need snacks. None of that ruins your session. I've been photographing families for years and I've never had a session where a kid was on perfect behavior the whole time, because that's not what kids do. The flow is built around real kids. We move when they need to move, take breaks when they need breaks, and the photos that come from those in-between moments are usually the ones you end up loving the most. You don't have to manage your kids for me. Just be their parent.

  • Weather is a mutual decision. If it's clearly raining, we reschedule. If it's a maybe (overcast, sprinkles in the forecast, marine layer), we decide the morning of and I'll guide you. Overcast is actually beautiful light, so don't write off a cloudy day. If we do need to reschedule, your retainer carries over to the new date. No fee, no penalty.

  • Yes. If it's just one or two extra people, we can fold them into a regular family session and add a few grandparent groupings to the flow. If you want full extended family coverage with multiple households and structured groupings, that falls under the Extended Family Session, which is built for groups of up to three households. Either way, just let me know who's coming when we plan the session.

  • Delivery depends on your package. Essential is three weeks, Signature is two weeks, and Premium is one week. You'll get an online gallery from Cloudspot with full download access and the ability to share, favorite, and order prints if you want to.
