Newborn Photography That Feels Like Home
Relaxed, baby-led newborn photography in Orange County
The first weeks with a newborn are tender and unpredictable. You’re recovering, learning your baby, and running on very little sleep. You still want photos that feel like you, and you shouldn’t have to “perform” to get them.
I’m an Orange County newborn photographer offering calm, baby-led sessions with just enough guidance to make everything easy. You’ll receive a mix of images every time: classic portraits that look beautiful on the wall, plus the real-life, “that’s so us” moments in between.
Choose an in-home newborn session anywhere in Orange County, or come to my bright Huntington Beach studio designed to feel like home. Either way, you can exhale. I’ll guide you through it.
Serving Huntington Beach, Irvine, Lake Forest, Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, and all of Orange County.
A calm, guided newborn session, built for real life.
Newborn life is already a lot. This session should not add to it. I’ll come in with a simple plan, gentle prompts, and plenty of flexibility so you can just focus on your baby.
We go at your baby’s pace, with breaks built in, and I’ll guide you into natural, flattering positions that feel like you. You’ll leave with frame-worthy portraits and the real-life moments you’ll want to remember.
✔ In-home or studio options
Stay in your own space, or come to my bright Huntington Beach studio designed to feel like home. Either way, it’s calm, baby-led, and guided from start to finish.
✔ Baby-led pace, built-in breaks
Feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and snuggles are part of the session. We move slowly and never force a timeline.
✔ Classic portraits + “that’s so us” moments
We’ll capture the portraits you’ll want on your walls, and the real-life connection in between. The tiny details, the snuggles, and the way life feels right now.
Built to take the pressure off
If you’re not feeling rested, organized, or “photo ready,” that’s normal. Those early days are tender and messy and fast, all at once.
This is why I guide you through everything. I’ll tell you exactly where to be, what to do with your hands, and how to settle in without it feeling stiff. Your baby can take breaks. Toddlers can be toddlers. You don’t have to make it perfect. If this sounds like what you need, reach out below. I’ll respond with availability and next steps.

What’s included in every newborn collection
No matter which collection you choose, these are the non-negotiables. Calm, baby-led, and designed to feel easy.
Baby-led pacing, always. Breaks for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and resets are built in. There’s no rushing and no pressure for your baby to do anything on a schedule.
Guided, not stiff. I’ll give clear direction when you need it, then step back so the moments can feel natural. You’ll never be left wondering what to do next.
Family included. Partner and siblings are welcome. Sibling photos are quick, playful, and realistic, then we let kids take breaks as needed.
In-home or studio. Choose an in-home session anywhere in Orange County, or my bright, home-like Huntington Beach studio. Both are comfortable, low-pressure options.
A full, hand-edited gallery. Warm, true-to-life edits with clean skin tones and natural color, delivered as a complete mix of classic portraits and real-life moments.
Now that you know what’s included, here’s who you’re working with, and what you can expect from the experience.
Meet your newborn photographer
Hi, I’m Kelsey. I’m a mom and an Orange County newborn photographer, and I built my newborn sessions around the reality of early postpartum life.
The days are tender and emotional, and sometimes you’re just trying to make it to the next feeding. You don’t need a perfect house, a perfectly sleepy baby, or a perfectly put-together version of yourself.
I’ll come in calm, guide you gently, and make this feel easy.
You show up as you are. I’ve got the rest.
Ready to check your due date?
The newborn season goes by quickly, and I take a limited number of sessions each month so I can keep every experience calm, flexible, and fully supported. If you’re expecting, now is the best time to see if your due date window is still available.
Newborn Photography FAQ (Orange County)
-
The most common time to photograph newborns is within the first 2–3 weeks, when babies tend to be sleepier and curl up more naturally. That said, you don’t miss your chance if your baby is older. I photograph newborns in a calm, baby-led way, so we can create beautiful images at any age, with more awake moments and more connection.
-
The best time to inquire is in your second or third trimester. I take a limited number of newborn sessions each month so there’s flexibility for early or late arrivals, and booking ahead helps secure your due date window.
-
Totally normal. Your due date reserves a flexible window on my calendar, and we’ll finalize the exact date once your baby arrives and you’re feeling ready.
-
I edit every image for light, color, and warmth with true-to-life skin tones. For newborns, I also do gentle skin cleanup (redness, peeling, small blemishes) while keeping your baby looking like your baby.
-
Absolutely. Parents and siblings are always welcome, and those early family snuggles are often the images you’ll love most. If you have a toddler, we keep sibling photos quick, guided, and realistic, then let them take breaks.
-
Most newborn sessions last about 1–2 hours, depending on the collection you choose. That gives us plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks so nothing feels rushed.
-
Yes. I have a small, curated selection of soft blankets, swaddles, and simple props that match my warm, timeless style. If you have something meaningful you want to include, I’ll help you work it in naturally.
-
For in-home sessions, just have feeding essentials, diapers, and wipes nearby. For studio sessions, bring any sentimental items or outfits you want included. I’ll guide the rest.
-
No deep cleaning required. A quick tidy of the spaces we’ll use most (usually your bedroom, living room, and nursery) is plenty. I’ll find the best light when I arrive and guide you through everything.
