Maternity photos for the mom who's been quietly putting this off
If you've been putting off maternity photos because you don't feel ready, or rested, or organized, or sure of what you want, you're not alone. Most moms hesitate. Some skip it entirely and end up regretting it later.
You don't need a perfect outfit, a put-together version of yourself, or a clear plan. You can come tired, emotional, uncomfortable, and unsure. The session is built around all of it, and you'll never be left wondering what to do.
Whether you come solo, bring your partner, or bring your kids, I'll guide you through everything with simple direction that feels natural and flattering. Just real photos, real connection, and proof that you showed up.

What every maternity session includes, no matter the collection
No matter which collection you choose, these are the non-negotiables of every maternity session at Captured Forever. Warm, guided, and designed to feel easy.
Guided, not stiff. I'll give clear direction when you need it, then step back so your photos feel natural. You'll never be left wondering what to do next or how to pose.
Flattering, natural posing. Simple angles, gentle movement, and prompts that help you look connected and confident. The goal is beautiful photos that still feel like you, not a performance.
Partner and kids welcome. Come solo, bring your partner, or bring your family. If toddlers come along, we'll keep it moving, keep it light, and work with real life as it unfolds.
Outdoor or studio options. Choose a beautiful Orange County location with the best light for the season, or my bright Huntington Beach studio designed to feel calm, simple, and comfortable.
A full, hand-edited gallery. Warm, true-to-life edits with clean skin tones and natural color, delivered as a complete mix of classic portraits and real connection you can actually feel.
Now that you know what's included, here's who you're working with, and what you can expect from the experience.
Natural light maternity photography across Orange County
Every maternity session I photograph uses natural light. Whether we're at golden hour on the beach or in the bright window light of my Huntington Beach studio, the light does most of the work. No harsh studio strobes, no awkward flash, no cold artificial lighting.
The result is photos that feel warm, soft, and true to the way you actually look in this stretch of pregnancy. Skin tones stay natural, the colors are flattering, and the images hold up beautifully on your walls, in baby books, and scrolling through your phone years later.
For outdoor sessions, we'll usually shoot in the hour before sunset when the light is warm and golden. The kind of light that makes everyone look gorgeous without needing to do much. For studio sessions, we have more flexibility on timing since the light stays consistent throughout the day.
I'll guide you toward the spots where the light is working best. You don't need to know anything about light, golden hour, or photography. You just need to show up.
Outdoor or studio maternity sessions
Where your session happens depends on what feels easier for your body and your timeline. Both options deliver the same calm, guided experience and warm, true-to-life gallery.
Outdoor maternity sessions happen at beautiful spots across Orange County. Crystal Cove, Little Corona Beach, Heisler Park, Cress Street, and dozens of others depending on the season, light, and what you want it to feel like. I'll recommend the location that fits you best when you book. Golden hour light, soft sand, ocean breezes, and room to move at your own pace.
Studio maternity sessions happen at my bright Huntington Beach studio. Clean neutral walls, big windows with consistent natural light, and a calm space that's easy on your body. A good fit if you don't want to deal with weather, sand, walking in heels on rocks, or scheduling around sunset when you're already exhausted. Studio sessions are also a beautiful option later in pregnancy when comfort matters most.
Both options welcome partners, kids, and however your family looks right now. I'll guide you through the choice when you inquire. There's no wrong answer.
Maternity sessions with partners and kids welcome
Maternity photos don't have to be solo. Whether you want a quiet session with just you and the bump, or you want your partner and kids in the frame, both options work beautifully.
Solo maternity portraits focus on you. The strength, the softness, the in-between feelings of becoming a mother. We'll create images that feel like a love letter to who you are right now, separate from the partner, the toddler, and the noise of daily life.
Maternity sessions with your partner are about connection. The quiet moments, the laughter, and the version of your relationship right before everything shifts. I'll guide you both through prompts that feel natural, not forced.
Maternity sessions with kids are part of every collection at no extra charge. Bringing older siblings or toddlers into the frame can feel risky, but we make it work. A few guided shots while everyone is fresh, then we let kids be kids. Big feelings get space. Snacks are welcome. Refusing to look at the camera is completely fine.
Most maternity sessions end up being a mix of all three. Solo portraits, partner portraits, and family moments in one gallery. I'll guide you through what fits your family best when you book.
Meet your maternity photographer
Hi, I'm Kelsey, a maternity photographer here in Orange County, and I've been doing this since 2018. I'm a mom too, so I know pregnancy can feel like a mix of excitement, discomfort, tenderness, and a million thoughts you can't quite finish. Maternity photos should feel like you, not like you're playing a role.
My own road to motherhood wasn't a straight line. IVF, a tough birth experience, and a postpartum stretch that taught me a lot about what early motherhood actually feels like. That experience shapes how I show up to maternity sessions. With care, with patience, and without pressure for you to look or feel a certain way.
I'll guide you with simple direction that feels natural and flattering, then leave space for real connection to show up. The kind of images that look beautiful on your walls, and also remind you, years from now, what it felt like to carry your baby and become a mother.
If you've been through a lot to get here, or if your pregnancy story is complicated, you're safe with me. We'll keep it warm, low-pressure, and centered on you.

Maternity Photography FAQ (Orange County)
-
Most moms love photos between 30-34 weeks, when your bump is clearly showing but you’re usually still feeling fairly comfortable. If you’re carrying multiples, have a higher-risk pregnancy, or just feel better earlier, we can absolutely plan for sooner.
-
You don’t need to. I’ll guide you into flattering angles and natural movement so you’re not guessing what to do. You can show up exactly as you are. That is enough.
-
If your collection includes the Motherhood Wardrobe, you’re welcome to borrow from it. If not, I’ll still help you choose something that photographs beautifully and feels like you. Think: simple, comfortable, and movement-friendly. Neutrals and soft colors tend to photograph best, but you don’t need to be beige-only.
-
Yes. Partners are always welcome, and kids too. We’ll keep it guided and moving so it doesn’t turn into a long “everyone smile perfectly” situation. If there’s toddler energy, we work with it.
-
You can choose an outdoor location anywhere in Orange County, or you can come to my bright Huntington Beach studio designed to feel calm, simple, and comfortable. If you’re unsure, I’ll recommend locations based on the season, light, and the vibe you want.
-
I don’t provide it in-house, but I can recommend trusted artists. Many moms love professional hair and makeup for the confidence boost, but it is not required.
-
If the weather is clearly not workable, we reschedule. If it’s a “maybe,” we decide the morning of. If anyone has contagious symptoms, we reschedule. I’d rather protect your family and keep the experience stress-free.
-
The sooner the better, especially for peak months and weekends. If you’re hoping for a specific timeframe, reach out early and we’ll find the best fit.
-
Yes. I keep edits natural and true-to-life while still helping you look your best. Temporary skin issues are not your job to worry about.
