Newborn Photography FAQ—Everything You Need to Know Before Your Session

  • The ideal time for newborn photos is within the first two weeks after birth. During this time, babies are sleepier and naturally curl into those soft, newborn poses. But if your baby is a little older—don’t worry! We can still capture beautiful, natural moments at any stage.

  • It’s never too early to book your newborn session! I take on a limited number of newborn clients each month to allow for flexibility if babies arrive early or late. The best time to schedule is during your second or third trimester to ensure availability.

  • No stress! Since due dates aren’t always predictable, I build flexibility into my schedule so we can adjust your session date based on when your baby actually arrives. You’ll have a spot reserved, and we’ll make it work!

  • Every photo is fully edited for exposure, color, and my signature artistic style. For newborns, I provide light skin retouching to gently smooth peeling skin, reduce redness or jaundice, and remove temporary blemishes—while keeping your baby’s natural beauty intact.

  • Absolutely! Your newborn’s story is also your family’s story. Parents, siblings, and even pets (if you'd like!) are always welcome to be part of the session. Some of the most treasured images come from those early snuggles together.

  • Newborn sessions typically last 1–2 hours, depending on the package you choose. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing all the sweet details without feeling rushed.

  • Yes! I have a curated selection of soft blankets, swaddles, and baskets that complement my natural, timeless style. If you have something sentimental you’d like to include—like a family heirloom, special outfit, or a meaningful prop—I’d love to incorporate it.

  • For in-home sessions, just have extra diapers, wipes, and feeding essentials handy. A pacifier or soft blanket can also help soothe your baby. If you're coming to the studio, I recommend bringing any special outfits, accessories, or sentimental props you’d love to include.

  • If we’re doing your session at home, don’t stress about having a “perfect” house! I just recommend choosing a room with great natural light (like the nursery or your bedroom) and clearing any visible clutter from the space we’ll be using. That’s it—I’ll handle the rest!
